50.2 Asymmetrical Spinnakers and Centerboards

Designed for sailors with some centerboard experience who seek more complex boat handling and teamwork skills‚ this class merges asymmetrical spinnaker handling and skills with fast centerboard sailing. The RS Toura is a large cockpit centerboard boat carrying a reefable mainsail‚ a furling jib and an asymmetrical spinnaker launched on a sprit‚ teaching crew cooperation‚ powering and depowering‚ hiking using hiking straps‚ capsize-recovery‚ and downwind sailing on fast reaching angles.

Prerequisites: 10.1‚ 10.2‚ 50.1. A Medium Air Rating and a Centerboard Endorsement or equivalent.

Students should expect to swim! No cotton clothing should be worn. Instead‚ students should dress in layers of synthetic materials (even under garments) and if a wet suit (4mm or less) and boots is owned‚ it should be worn.

This is an "Experience Fleet" class. No ratings or endorsements are issued.
