Adult Sailing Instruction

5.) Intermediate Adult

New for 2023‚ Intermediate Adult Sailing instruction will span many weeks and include sailing experience aboard a variety of boats and platforms. Students will attend 6 sessions of instruction over a 6 or 7 week period. Each class will introduce new sailing skills and encourage additional study and practice in between sessions. Depending on conditions and progress made the prior week‚ students may sail aboard Ensigns‚ OD Ensigns*‚ Solings or J-24s and in a variety of roles‚ including helmsperson‚ trimmer‚ pit or bow person.

(*OD Ensigns are "One-Design" carrying hank-on jibs and genoas and spinnaker gear.)

In this way‚ students can expect to build a broad base of skills‚ which‚ when demonstrated in both in-class and written evaluations‚ may result in a medium-wind Rating including Endorsements to sail a wider variety of Sailing Center boats during open sail.

Prerequisites: A light Air Rating and 20/30 hours of recent time on the water are required to register to take this course. More experienced students should expect to guide less experienced classmates in on-water and homework sailing.
