Exploring Lake Michigan Water Levels
In 2012‚ Lake Michigan water levels were at their lowest observed levels since the 1960’s‚ while this year they are at their highest level in over 17 years. Great Lake’s water levels change over decades‚ from year to year‚ and even by the hour and they impact everything from shipping to shoreline erosion - and also‚ where you can dock your sailboat! This class‚ taught by MCSC instructor and freshwater scientist Joe Fillingham‚ will explore recent lake level changes‚ the forces at work‚ and will highlight Lake level data collected at the Sailing Center with Wellntel technology. Come learn how this incredible force affects you!
