Development Director Barbara J. Velez is MCSC's newest full-time employee. Barbara's career as a business leader, marketing, public relations and development professional has enabled her to work with a wide variety of businesses, organizations and groups. She has helped launch new businesses and products, and implemented comprehensive public and community relations' plans and programs for start-up as well as established entities.

Prior to joining MCSC she led an independent consulting firm and publishing company. She published Wisconsin Woman, was a co-founder of MetroPARENT and produced The Ultimate Baby Digest for Wisconsin Families.

Barbara has served on a number of community boards of directors and was the first fundraising director for Wisconsin Heritages, Inc., the state's leading architectural preservation group. She served as fundraising coordinator for the Wisconsin Heart Association and was on the founding board of La Kermesse de la Bastille (Bastille Days). She has worked with dozens of nonprofit organizations as a volunteer.

Barbara is excited about the opportunities MCSC provides and looks forward to the day when her office will be in a beautifully appointed building -- complete with indoor plumbing – on Milwaukee's lakefront.
