Wendy Olsen
Wendy Olsen is excited to be part of The Milwaukee Community Sailing Center family as Director of
Development.
Wendy began sailing on Scows at the age of 7 and has, over the decades, raced E scows, Flying Scots and
one
design boats in Italy, Austria, Canada and Germany. Her passion for sailing carries over to education
teaching Adult sailing school at the Cedar a Lake Yacht Club where she has been a member for 47 years.
Whilst working for Harken in Como Italy, she launched a yacht clothing collection for Peter and Olaf
Harken
and formed a tight knit community of sailing friends worldwide. She was Membership Director at The
Milwaukee
Yacht Club from 2007 - 2013 and has fond memories of racing the Milwaukee Bay Women's series and
Wednesday
night offshore racing. Both of her children - Danny and Emilie - are avid sailors and enjoy outings on
"Wendswept" their Catalina 33.
Wendy is a Wisconsin girl through and through - a Graduate of The University of Wisconsin Madison, UW
Marching Band Alumni, her anchor has always been Milwaukee. Of all her travels, Wendy says "the best
sailing
community in the world is Milwaukee, Wisconsin where sailing can begin at any age. And.....
Hard water sailing on ice too!!"
MCSC....a great organization on a Great Lake, Wendy hopes "to meet all of you terrific members off
And on the water!"
